Huguette Caland - Les années parisiennes (1970-1986)

$ 53.00

Born in Beirut, Huguette Caland (1921–2019) observed the blossoming of Lebanon’s creative and cultural scene as the city became a metaphorical jewel. For Caland, the body was an unceasing point of obsession and a centrifugal point of investigation. Her art – compositions on paper, expressive collages, layered self-portraits, and paintings – manifests a composite image of a body in perpetual motion. The book is a retrospective of a deeply prolific and fruitful period, Caland’s time in Paris between 1970 and 1987, during which she developed her joyful eroticism, freed herself from convention, reinvented her practice, and produced some of her greatest masterpieces.
