This fully illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition Made in L.A. 2016: a, the, though, only, and is developed in collaboration with the participating artists. The individual sections are disparate and unique, shedding light on the processes and methodologies that inform the contributions to the exhibition. As the third iteration in an ongoing series, this year’s Made in L.A. focuses on what is vital and distinctive about Los Angeles as an international destination and center for contemporary art and how its artists—from vastly different backgrounds and disciplines—resist and defy categorization. Including a range of commissioned essays, visual and textual contributions, and works of poetry by participating artists and other authors, the publication offers a document of the thoughts and ideas circulating within and throughout the period of time reflected by Made in L.A. 2016: a, the, though, only.
