This gorgeous textile began its life as two humble threads. By virtue of the skill and artistry of generations of indigenous Maya weavers, those two threads were transformed by two human hands to become this beautiful bag. 

These are sometimes called hammock bags. Made on a back strap loom by weavers in the Highlands of Chiapas. Woven in autonomous Tzotzil Maya Territory, established by the EZLN, following a coordinated and armed resistance to the ratification of the NAFTA Treaty. The EZLN achieved a form of LAND BACK through their resistance and the formation of caracoles, governed by primarily matriarchal leaders. LUZ Collection is in full support of the EZLN and all indigenous sovereignty objectives in the Americas and globally.

100% cotton hand woven tote. Bag is 15 x 15 inches and the strap 10 inches long.
