Graphite Issue VII Consequence

$ 14.00

GRAPHITE was founded in 2009 and is the first printed interdisciplinary arts journal on the UCLA campus. The journal is produced annually and supported through the Hammer Museum and the Hammer Student Association (HSA).

The departments of art, art history, design and media arts, musicology, world arts and cultures, architecture, film and theatre, and comparative literature mostly hold one thing in common: they are all on the UCLA campus, yet they have remained largely divided and uninformed of one another. Our desire was to change that by engaging students with a combination of scholarly work open to all of these disciplines and beyond, and printed artwork that features all mediums from musical scores and sculpture, to graphic design and printmaking.

We hope to re-contextualize the understanding of the arts – not only amongst the UCLA student body, but also within the contemporary art world through each issue’s themes and the original work of our undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral contributors locally and internationally. GRAPHITE aims to stimulate those who are well rehearsed in the arts as well as those who are looking for a reliable point of entry.
